This Sunday: Lokerse Feesten. I fear the worst for them Cavalera Bros. Other bands on bill include Megadeth, Apocalyptica, Marilyn Manson & Alice Cooper. Skipping that this year because fuck the Cavaleras and Manson, and I don't like Apocalyptica's versions of Metallica songs, which is what they're playing on this tour. Not worth the trip for just Alice and Megadeth, given that I'm seeing Alice twice on his Paranormal Tour.

I just want to reassure myself that Roots is overrated and that Max has become a clown.
First time Megadeth & Cooper, I'll be in my car before Manson opens his mouth.

I'm seeing him in a few weeks at a dive bar. That's where he plays most of the time. He's going for the "huge numbers of tiny gigs" approach. Been re-listening to his last three or four albums recently. Had forgotten how good The Man Who Would Not Die and Promise And Terror were. The new one sounds good too. I've never heard a note of his solo stuff and I think I heard one song from Virtual IX, the one with the bad CGI video. I'm going because you recommended it. And spite, because I've never seen that other band he used to sing in either. "Wolf"-something?

I'm going in with a clean slate. And if I've had enough to drink I'm going to forgo yelling out "Freebird!" as I do at all concerts for "Powerslave!" instead. Should go over fine?

I'm going to try see a local metal band called Klarg next Saturday and hopefully they're done by 7:30 so I can hop in the subway and meet my wife to see Bruno Mars.
if they're not done by 7:30 I guess I'm missing the first few songs of Bruno Mars.

Going to see KoRn again on Wednesday. They were that good last week Is their new album worth checking out? To be honest, they don't play that much from it. The opening track, which I believe is the opener on the album too, is classic KoRn. Some of the others, less great. On the EU shows they're only regularly playing three tracks. On the US run they played four because they were able to get Corey Taylor to reprise his vocals on one of them. I think it's a solid album, but not stellar. Better than the last two or three, at any rate.

I've been wanting to see W.A.S.P. again for a long time. I saw the last tour they did for Crimson Idol and it was excellent.

I've been wanting to see W.A.S.P. again for a long time. I saw the last tour they did for Crimson Idol and it was excellent. I did too. Found it OK because it was way shorter than it should have been. They promised in the build-up for it that they'd do The Crimson Idol as a first set, then do a second set of classics. In reality, they did The Crimson Idol, then did an encore. Looking at the setlist this time, they're doing the same thing. The Crimson Idol, then a five-song encore. Nevertheless, they're one of my all time favourite bands, so I'm seeing them in Manchester tomorrow, then again in London next Friday.

I have a lot of shows with question marks beside them because I'm not sure if I'll bother, but I've bought tickets for: Gost on November 3rd Crystal Castles on November 17th Profantica on November 25th Distant Worlds (the Final Fantasy Orchestra) on December 2nd LCD Soundsystem on December 3rd
And going into next year I'm going to: Video Games Live on April 13th Xibalba (as part of a small fest) on May 28th.

Love this time of year. Another decent weekend of metal down, and although I've got nothing this week or next week (can't be bothered with L.A. Guns again, and sadly missing Gothminister tomorrow night), the week after next is the Helloween reunion, and Alice Cooper, week after that is Deep Purple/Europe and Depeche Mode, then a killer weekend of Stone Sour in the UK, and over to Holland for Extreme, and Alice Cooper again. Then back to London for Diamond Head, and Queen the week after.

Not my usual string of shows I would expect, it's just that there's not a lot coming around here lately so I take what I can get. I wish I could trade all of this for At The Gates, Slayer, Helloween, and Judas Priest.
